Cookie Policy
This site sets no cookies at all. It stores two small values in your browser's local storage, which is a different mechanism: those values stay on your device and are never sent to a server.
#1. Cookies vs local storage
A cookie travels to a server with every request your browser makes. Local storage does not: it stays in your browser, and only JavaScript running on the page can read it. That is why our own two values use local storage. The information never needs to leave your device.
#2. Everything stored, item by item
| Name | What it holds | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Set by this site, in local storage | |||
setuspain-theme |
light or dark |
Keeps the theme you chose between visits | Until you clear site data |
setuspain-notice |
true |
Stops the storage notice reappearing on every page | Until you clear site data |
setuspain-compose |
Your saved article draft | Only created if you press Save draft in the composer | Until you clear it |
#3. What is not used here
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics or any equivalent.
- No social media pixels, share widgets or embedded trackers.
- No email or newsletter tracking. There is no mailing list.
- No advertising or targeting cookies.
- No third-party cookies of any kind.
#4. Removing what is stored
Clear site data for this domain in your browser settings and everything above disappears. The site keeps working; it simply forgets your theme.
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies → See all site data and permissions
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Private or incognito windows discard everything when you close them. The site detects when storage is unavailable and falls back to remembering your theme for the current visit only.
#5. Consent
Because none of the tracking mechanisms above exist here, there is nothing that requires your consent under the ePrivacy rules. The notice on your first visit is there to tell you what is stored, not to ask permission for tracking that is not happening.
#6. Outbound links
Articles link to official Spanish government pages. Once you leave SetuSpain, that site's own cookie practices apply. We have no control over them and receive nothing back about your visit.
#7. Changes
If we add anything that stores more than what is listed above, this page changes before it goes live.
